> Wing Raiders U9 Spartans Win Dunstable Town Tournament
>
> On Saturday 1st September 2012 Wing Raiders U9 Spartans entered their first ever competitive tournament & ended up Winners. The Dunstable Town 2012 Pre-Season Tournament was held at Creasey Park in Dunstable & the U9s included 16 teams competing for the trophy, The first 3 games were in a group, Wing Raiders U9 Spartans won 2 of these & drew 1 meaning they topped the group, scoring 11 goals and conceding 0. From then on in it was a knockout competition.
>
> The first knockout game saw them meet the other Wing Raiders U9 side, the Crusaders. The Crusaders put up a valiant effort but the Spartans were just too strong. Next it was Stotfold in the quarter finals. The Stotfold keeper proved very difficult to beat but in the Spartans managed to take a 2-0 lead. Stotfold scored towards the end of the game to make it a tense final few minutes but the Spartans progressed to the next round & avoid a dreaded penalty shoot out.
>
> The semi final stage saw the Spartans play Great Linford. The Spartans took the lead early on but Great Linford equalised. making it a tighter game. However, the Spartans continued to push forward and scored another 2 goals to progress to the final.
>
> So it was to the final against Letchworth. By this time the team were tired and the crowds had dwindled with it being around 6:30pm. The Spartans were pleased to have got this far, anything more was a bonus. However they managed to find some more energy and continued to play the good passing football they had produced all day winning the Final 2-0.
>
> It was a fantastic performance by the Spartans team coming away with the trophy after playing 7 games, wining 6 of them, drawing 1 & losing 0. They scored 23 goals and conceded only 2. With the goals coming from 6 different players & conceding so few goals it showed that the whole team contributed to this win.
>
> The team consisted of Barnaby Heasman, Lochlan Laukli, Adam Cobb, Oliver Flecknell, Thomas Howells, Harish Ramesh, Ben Herbert, Jamie Spivey & Joe Dunning. They were a great credit to the club on & off the field & received many encouraging comments from the opposition. A great start to the season for Wing Raiders U9s Spartans.

match report- Saxons U12's

Sunday the 9th of September 2012 the Saxons travelled to Westoning to play our first grading game. This is so that we can see what division we will be put in. It was one of the hottest days but we still played. With 3 new players and not a lot of training we prepared to play our first match of the season.

Harvey, our Captain, won the toss and choose which way we would kick off. The game got off to a quick start and we were soon battling on a equal with the other team. A quick goal from the home team put them ahead but we battled back and Tom Carter went and scored a equaliser . All was level again. Alex got his foot to the ball and stopped them scoring. Then I went and scored a goal to make it 2-1 to us. We defended well and  then Westoning scored to make it all level yet again. Ollie struck and the ball hit the post we all thought he had scored but Tom finished it off and scored just before half time to see us take the lead again.
In the 2nd half we were caught offside and had to defend a bit, Jake did well in goal and saved some chances that was very close. The match was quite equal with both teams having chances. Towards the end of the match Tom went and scored again. This completed a hatrick for him and his first game for us.
Our first grading match and we won the game  4-2.

My man of the match is Tom Carter.
